The Alaska Center for Missing Children issues bulletins from the Alaska Bureau of Investigation whenever a child is reported missing in the state of Alaska. The Alaska Amber Alert System is a cooperative public service which assists in the safe recovery of abducted children. Also available is the Alaska Missing Person Clearinghouse which is an intrastate and interstate coordinated communication network to assist in the speedy collection and processing of information regarding missing children. The Alaska Department of Public Safety provides a central registry of criminal child kidnappers which can be accessed online. On the national level, there is a wealth of information available from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children detailing what to do if your child is missing and which law enforcement agencies to contact. Also provided is information regarding public service agencies which assist in information gathering and recovery efforts.
