Cuba Township, Illinois is an unincorporated community located in Lake County approximately 50 miles northwest of Chicago. The township is known for being the northern terminus of the historic Illinois and Michigan (I & M) Canal and as the birthplace of explorer and Twentieth Century President Theodore Roosevelt’s wife, Edith Kermit Carow Roosevelt.
The township is governed by a five-member Township Board of Trustees whose members are elected directly by voters. The meetings of the Township Board occur on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. The board is responsible for fiscal management, zoning, ordinance enforcement, and other issues.
