Massachusetts law enforcement, criminal justice and other public agencies join forces when a child is reported missing in Massachusetts. Local law enforcement may coordinate initial search efforts; however, the Massachusetts Missing Children Clearinghouse plays an important role by providing resources for families, caregivers, and the professionals who serve them in assisting in the recovery of children who go missing from Massachusetts. The Massachusetts Child Amber Alert is an emergency alert system which broadcasts information that could help recover a missing child. The Massachusetts Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force support state and local law enforcement agencies to enhance investigative response to offenders who use the Internet to exploit children. The internet can serve citizens by providing search databases, websites which offer lists, photos, and details of children currently missing in Massachusetts, and safety tips for parents and children to help prevent abduction.
