Michigan law enforcement, criminal justice and other public agencies join forces when a child is reported missing in Michigan. Michigan's Amber Alert program is one of several tools available to law enforcement in the search for missing children. The program is a cooperative effort between law enforcement and the Michigan Association of Broadcasters to quickly publicize cases of abducted or endangered missing children. The Michigan Missing Children Information Clearinghouse acts as an information and referral resource to the public, local law enforcement, and other state clearinghouses and provides a telephone hotline available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to receive information and inquiries regarding missing children. The Michigan Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force provides resources for internet safety for children. The internet serves citizens by providing search databases, websites which offer lists, photos, and details of children currently missing in Michigan, and safety tips for parents and children to help prevent abduction.
